The subject of syphilitic synovitis in children has not received the attention it deserves from medical and surgical writers, and the importance of the condition entitles it to a much wider recognition than has hitherto been accorded to it. It is generally regarded as an affection of great rarity, and in the textbooks on diseases of children it is either completely ignored, or the subject is summarily disposed of, with the statement that such a condition is occasionally, but very rarely met with.
